The rankings of the top 50 or top 100 directors and supervisory directors appear like clockwork in online and traditional media. There are similar rankings for young talent too. But whether those talented young professionals go on to later appear in the top 50 or top 100 rankings is far from clear.
The value of such lists is relative anyway. Is the number 1 executive truly any better as a director, more talented, than the executive at number 2? And, if so, in what way?
Too often, successful managers who have appeared on these lists, such as the Top CFOs, CEOs and other Leaders of the Year, can't handle the fame. Narcissistic behaviour, and in some cases worse, exaggerating success curves by manipulating the figures and other such antics are sometimes the unwelcome result.
The true value of a manager lies in their authenticity, integrity and unifying force. These are the qualities that Maes & Lunau believes predict a solid career and systematic success. And that's what we look for.
