    Supervisory Programme

Unconscious biases are difficult to recognise in yourself. Circumstances can influence your authentic behaviour more than you realise. In a supervisory role, this can have serious consequences. Diversity in the boardroom is increasing, which raises the question of how you navigate these dynamics while remaining true to yourself. This is why Maes & Lunau, together with Avicenna, has developed a programme that brings together a highly diverse group of fifteen aspiring and experienced non‑executive directors. They learn what effective supervision entails across all core themes, grounded in consistent, authentic behaviour in relation to the other members of the team.

Maes & Lunau works with Avicenna to develop future‑ready supervisors and non‑executive board members. Together we have created a programme for professionals aiming for a supervisory role, as well as for experienced supervisors who wish to deepen their effectiveness. The programme focuses on both the substantive aspects of supervision and on personal functioning within a board. Central to this is the question of how to remain authentic, independent and effective in a complex governance environment.

The programme runs for approximately ten months and consists of five two‑day modules. Participants receive teaching from leading experts, work on real‑life case studies and reflect on their own behaviour and role. The group is carefully composed to bring together a broad range of perspectives and experiences. Admission is based on a personal intake.
