Ylse van der Schoot new COO of Cordaid

We are pleased to share that Cordaid welcomed Ylse van der Schoot as their new COO. She will be joining Cordaid in October and she will take over the position from departing COO Sybren Attema, the former CEO of ICCO, that joined forces with Cordaid at the beginning of 2021.

Currently Van der Schoot holds a position of Executive Director at North Star Alliance, a healthcare organisation for hard-to-reach communities in sub-Sahara Africa. She has 25 years of experience in development programmes and leading international teams in various organisations, such as Oikocredit, ICCO, Oxfam Novib, and Life & Peace Institute. Her extensive experience in aid and development makes her the perfect person for the job. Her know-how in dealing with all the intricate processes on the ground, will contribute to ensure the continuity, impact, and success of Cordaid’s work.

Cordaid is an internationally operating value-based emergency relief and development organisation, working in and on fragility. They stand with those who are hit hardest by poverty and conflict. They support them in their struggle to move beyond survival and to fully participate in equitable and resilient societies. (Source:

We wish both Ylse van der Schoot and Cordaid good luck on their journey to make the world a better place!
