Irene began her career as a lawyer and organisational consultant, after which she spent several years in an international commercial role within the agricultural sector. This combination of experience gives her a strong foundation in leadership appointments across Food, Agri & Life Sciences, Consumer Goods & Retail and family‑owned businesses. Her ability to understand people in relation to their organisational context, together with her deep commitment to the profession, makes her a respected advisor in the boardroom.
With a background in a family business and as a shareholder of Maes & Lunau, Irene remains closely connected to the day‑to‑day reality of entrepreneurship. She understands the qualities and responsibilities that come with it and brings that grounded, down‑to‑earth perspective into every assignment.

Having achieved success in two different sports at both national and international level, Irene understands how essential teamwork and perseverance are for long‑term performance. It is a perspective she applies daily in her assessment of leadership and team dynamics.
